Current Activities We continue to provide you with the latest biofilm news and to provide biofilm information resources to reach educators, professionals and the public. BiofilmsOnline.com is read by over 1300 news subscribers and an ever increasing number of web visitors. Since October 2000, the Center for Biofilm Engineering has been developing and publishing a valuable web resource of current biofilm-related information, www.BiofilmsOnline.com. This resource provides what could otherwise only be found by searching multiple resources. The information is carefully gathered and reviewed by people with credentials and experience in biofilm research and education. Monthly, a newsletter of the latest information (educational materials, journal references, patents, press releases, employment opportunities, etc) is delivered directly to our subscribers. Because of our sponsors and donors, we are able to provide this information at no cost to subscribers. It has been a great step forward to achieving our mission of fostering communication about biofilm issues among industry, academic, consumer, healthcare, government and regulatory communities. We are enthusiastic about BIOFILMS: The Hypertextbook project and welcome sponsors to support our work to make this educational resource a reality. The National Science Foundation awarded Montana State University's Center for Biofilm Engineering a $498,270 grant to develop a web-based undergraduate teaching and active-learning resource about biofilms. The grant began September 1, 2006 and will expire August 31, 2009. * Read more about the award (pdf) * We appreciate all those who contributed to this proposal by serving as reviewers and evaluators, and by writing letters of support.
